[William廉 -- Although my father left his hometown in 1948. His heart and thoughts have always been to one day visit his motherland. In 1972, my father brought me with him for his visit his first visit back to his hometown. I remembered traveling with his friends Jose Ong (Central Hardware), Sio Pao Ong (Sanny Sweets), with Ako (Papa's sister). and Achi (Chen Ming Li).
[William廉 -- Those days, I remember, stepping into our hometown, 金 井 炳 洲引 后份, I had the chance to breath my father's hometown air, touch his hometown water, and slept in their hometown bed. Perhaps, Papa was trying to show me how it was like during his time. I myself was amazed by the Stone House, stone roofing, stone wall, and the stone toilet built outside of the main house.]
[Chen Ming Li 陳明麗-- During my uncle's trip in 1972, he raised funds to build classrooms for the local elementary school. By 1983, when he moved to Hong Kong from the Philippines. Beyond the turmoil and unrest in the Philippines was his yearning to connect with his motherland. He started to connect with local people in Hong Kong who would have known his hometown. In a short time, with a few hometown folks, organized and started meeting regularly. By 1986, with the help of local Hong Kong lawyer and he formally organized the Hong Kong Ying Chau Association Co Ltd. My uncle was appointed by the member as its first Chairman of the board.]
[Juana/Chen Ming Li 陳明麗-- It was not without difficulties. Unlike his experiences in Philippines, where matters are done rather swiftly by 'connections', Hong Kong works in the strictest terms, most especially companies or associations, My uncle always have the patience, dedication. He worked long hours, and had the office established at his residence in Elizabeth House, Causeway Bay. He headed the association from 1986 until 1992. Upon his migration to the United States, the chairmanship was turned over to Wang Fang Bo, 王芳波. In 2002, the Ltd Co was turned over completely to the association.]
[Chen Ming Li 陳明麗 -- My uncle always have a soft spot for relatives and friends Being an active Christian in the USA, he continues to regularly and actively attend and serve in the local church in Hong Kong. On April 20, 2008, Uncle raised enough funds to secure a 7-Year -Lease of a beautiful flat for the local church. The newly organized church is Hong Kong Christian Eternity Church, 永生堂. This is located in the center of North Point, at the King's Road, 六合大廈.
[Juana -- Everytime we visit Hong Kong, we always are always home with the Hong Kong Eternity Church. Papa always have a home with the church.]
